On National Siblings Day, DiabetesMine shares stories of families dealing with type 1 diabetes from the perspective of siblings.

### Stories of Siblings Living with Type 1 Diabetes Every April 10th is National Siblings Day, a day to celebrate the bond between brothers and sisters. DiabetesMine has shared stories of four families where siblings are both living with type 1 diabetes (T1D). #### The Rippolone Siblings Joseph and Jillian Rippolone from Long Island, NY, were both diagnosed with T1D as children. Joseph was diagnosed at age 7, and Jillian a year later at age 9. Jillian recalls watching her brother manage his diabetes and feeling responsible for him, especially when their mother was at work. Despite the challenges, they now manage their diabetes well with modern technology like the OmniPod patch pump and Dexcom CGM. #### The Nystrom Siblings Will and Quinn Nystrom from Minnesota also share a life with T1D. Will was diagnosed at age 5, and Quinn at age 13. They have different approaches to managing their diabetes; Will prefers insulin pens and fingerstick meters, while Quinn uses an insulin pump and continuous glucose monitor. Despite their different management styles, they support each other and share a strong bond. #### The Kowalski Brothers Aaron and Steve Kowalski both have T1D, with Aaron diagnosed at age 13 and Steve at age 3. Aaron works in diabetes advocacy, while Steve does not. They grew up supporting each other and learning from each other’s experiences. Aaron once gave Steve a tip that significantly improved his diabetes management. #### The Schuhmacher-Jackson Family Meri Schuhmacher-Jackson has four boys, three of whom have T1D. Her sons J, L, and B were diagnosed at very young ages. Despite the challenges, the brothers share a unique bond and support each other through their diabetes management. Meri believes that their shared experience with diabetes has brought them closer together. These stories highlight the unique challenges and strong bonds that siblings with T1D share. If you have a story to share about siblings and diabetes, DiabetesMine would love to hear from you.
