Suzanne Haynes, PhD, is a senior advisor for science in the Office on Women's Health in the Department of Health and Human Services. She has been named president of the Lesbian Health Fund at the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association's 18th Annual Conference. Before this role, she was the chief of the Health Education Section at the National Cancer Institute, where she launched several community breast cancer screening programs. Trained as an epidemiologist, she has published 70 articles on women's health, including topics like heart disease, cholesterol levels, smoking, hypertension, diabetes, lesbian health, and breast cancer screening. She has also contributed to the National Action Plan on Breast Cancer and other women's health initiatives.
