If you're lactose intolerant or vegan, opt for fortified plant-based milks, leafy green vegetables, or nuts. Vitamin D helps your body absorb calcium and can be found in fatty fish like salmon, tuna, and mackerel, as well as egg yolks and fortified foods. Besides diet, weight-bearing exercises like walking, jogging, and resistance training strengthen bones. Avoid smoking and limit alcohol consumption as they can weaken bones.
