Prolia (denosumab) is a prescription drug used to treat osteoporosis and bone loss. Prolia is a biologic medication given as an injection under the skin. It's prescribed for adults at high risk for bone fractures. Common side effects include back pain, muscle pain, and limb pain, while serious side effects like hypocalcemia and severe infections can also occur. Prolia is typically administered once every 6 months and is often recommended to be taken with calcium and vitamin D supplements.
