What causes osteoporosis?
Osteoporosis is a condition where bones become weak and are more likely to fracture. Several factors can cause osteoporosis. First, as we age, bone density naturally decreases. Secondly, gender plays a role; women, especially post-menopause, are more prone to osteoporosis. Additionally, a diet low in calcium and vitamin D, lack of physical activity, smoking, and excessive alcohol consumption can all increase the risk. Certain medications and diseases, like rheumatoid arthritis and thyroid issues, can also lead to osteoporosis. To prevent it, maintaining a balanced diet, regular exercise, and avoiding smoking and excessive drinking can help keep your bones healthy.
