What is osteoporosis and what are its symptoms?

Osteoporosis is a condition where bones become weak and brittle, making them more likely to break. It occurs when the creation of new bone doesn't keep up with the removal of old bone. Symptoms of osteoporosis include back pain, a decrease in height over time, a stooped posture, and bones that break easily. Risk factors include aging, hormonal changes, lack of calcium and vitamin D, and a sedentary lifestyle. Diagnosis is usually done through bone density tests. Treatment may involve medications, lifestyle changes, and dietary supplements to strengthen bones and prevent fractures.
