What is spondylolisthesis and how is it treated?
Spondylolisthesis is a condition where one of the vertebrae in your spine slips out of place and moves on top of the vertebra below it. It often occurs at the base of the spine and can cause pain if it presses on a nerve. The main types of spondylolisthesis are degenerative, isthmic, congenital, traumatic, pathological, and postsurgical. Treatment depends on the severity of the condition. Mild cases are usually managed with rest, physical therapy, and medications. Severe cases may require surgery, such as spinal decompression or spinal fusion. Recovery from surgery involves a hospital stay, limited physical activity, and physical therapy.
